| It's happening, ladies and gentlemen. The new, stupid generation is taking over. For as long as I can remember, ever since I was little, every single "top videos of all time" countdown had "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana as the #1 video. It was THE song and video of my generation, we were all just IN it at the time. We were there, we heard it, we felt it. It has got to be one of the best songs of all time, hands down. Not just the song, but everything else that goes along with it. The feelings of familiarity, the nostalgia, the comfort, the rage, the truth. There was a time when everyone who knew good music agreed that this song was monumental, whether they liked the song or not. Those generations still maintain this theory. However. We are now amongst a generation who thinks Smells Like Teen Spirit deserves to be #3. Ready for this? "What's My Age Again" by Blink-182 was #2. And "I'm Not Okay" by My Chemical Romance, of course, is the BEST video of all time. Duh. ...Are you people fucking kidding me? Three idiots running around naked through town is now being compared to, and deemed as BETTER, than Smells Like Teen Spirit?! Don't get me wrong, I actually do enjoy listening to Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance. But in no way are they better than Nirvana. Nirvana, though some people refuse to admit it, need to be given credit where it's due. Whether you like their music or not, everyone knows that Nirvana and Pearl Jam paved the way for the rock music we listen to today. If they didn't start the grunge era, no one else would have had the balls to do what they wanted to do outside of the 80's hair music. Sadly, we are now giving power to a generation who votes things to the top of countdowns because there are penises *giggle* on the screen (that are blurred out anyway) or the "hot" Green Day wannabes. Have looks taken over completely? Vanity? "OMG...this guy's like, sooo hot...at least that's what MTV and Fuse tell me...so I have, like, a huuuuuge crush on him. Let's vote his band to the top!!!" It's funny...maybe it's just me, but if we WERE going by looks, then I'd still vote Kurt Cobain over Gerard Way anyday. But I grew up in a time that doesn't go by looks, we go by the fucking MUSIC. Too bad we don't have the time to sit around and vote videos in countdowns anymore. ...Haha, but I apparently do have time to rant in a xanga. Go figure. And, oh. Another thing. Maybe I'm just biased, since I love Avenged Sevenfold so much. But they were nowhere on the countdown. "Bat Country" is an amazing fucking song, and the video adapted one of the best books and movies of all time. I personally think that the song and video deserved to be ANYWHERE on the countdown. But no, fuck Avenged Sevenfold, they're strange. Fall Out Boy's great, let's vote them to the #5 spot!!! Over "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N Roses at #6. Yeahhh!!! Fucking idiots.
